Arquine’s second annual International Architecture and Latin American City festival, MEXTRÓPOLI, will take place from March 6-10, 2015 in Mexico City. To encourage citizen participation, the festival will be broken down into six parts: listening, dialogue, observation, taking action, participation and celebration.
MEXTRÓPOLI aims to convert Mexico City into a pioneering city, making it an architectural reference for the continent. The festival also serves as an important cultural project for the city, encouraging urban regeneration and promoting Mexico city’s artistic heritage.
THE EVENT
The event will connect architects, designers, urbanists, sociologists, artists and citizens, bringing together leading critics, theorists and professionals in order to convert Mexico city into the region’s epicenter of architecture, and a leader in creative transformation through cultural activities and touristic development of the city’s historic center, heritage venues, theaters, museums, streets and public squares.
MEXTRÓPOLI is based on 15 years of experience from the Arquine Congress, which was held annually until 2014 when it transformed into MEXTRÓPOLI, with the aim of positioning Mexico City as an important and diverse center for sharing and promoting architectural knowledge.
THE LOCATION
As the most populated city and the heart of the continent, Mexico City needs new and diverse ideas to activate its urban space, not only from world-renowned professionals but also from its citizens. The Festival aims to generate interaction between citizens and specialists, promoting creativity, critical thinking and participation in order to generate new ideas about architecture and Mexico City.
